I have several friends that have been asking me to come visit them and I figure I could raise about $1200 in 2 months.

I'm going to Germany in September for work! Benefit of working for a German company. lol I work with a bunch of Germans here in our office, and from all the stories the place sounds awesome! My military friends have some pretty good stories from there too. I say you do it! Apart from race cars, traveling is the best way to spend your money.

Do it! Travel is some of the best informal education you can get, and it doesn't have to cost a ton. Probably the best way to speed-learn a language, too. Mark Twain was right: "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. "

If you're going to Norway be sure to visit the northern parts of the country. It's absolutely beautiful there and midnight sun is probably interesting experience for you as well.

Germany and the Nordic countries are typically pretty expensive to visit, but well worth it. Is your $1200 just to get you there? You might not be going very far once you get there if that's the case.
